How to Design a Useful & Informative Wedding/Engagement Website

The wedding season is here again. While a few weeks ago we showcased 25 Save the Date and Wedding Invitation Designs by Web & Graphic Designers, today we’ll guide you through things you should consider when designing your wedding/engagement website.

How to Design a Useful & Informative Wedding/Engagement Website

First of all, why do we even need one? Well, the answer is not absolute. You have an international wedding for example. Or you support being green, instead of using paper invitations you can send the invitation using an email newsletter and have the guest RSVP online on your wedding website.

Whatever the reason, having a wedding/engagement website in my opinion makes everything simpler and easier. You can direct the guests to your wedding registry online and display your info or share engagement pictures.

Design an Informative Wedding/Engagement Website

5 Things to Consider in Designing Your Wedding/Engagement Website

1. Create the basic point of your information in a simple listing
Meaning that you don’t need to pile up all the text and information as if it’s a newsletter. Make it short and simple by listing the basic info in one or two paragraph line(s).

2. Put together the best look and appropriate pictures of the couple.
Even though it’s about you and your fiancee/fiance (or the couple), doesn’t mean that you can put any picture up on the site. Gather some appropriate ones that everybody would like to see of the couple.

3. Use video instead of music.
In todays web design trend, it’s more about visual. So forget about adding music to the site, but use video instead.

4. Keep in mind simple and apparent user navigation
The site will be visited by your friends and family, and perhaps your grandma or grandpa too. Therefore it is best to keep the navigation on the site as simple and apparent as possible. You certainly don’t want them to have to figure out “the right way” to browse your website.

5. Match up your design with your wedding stationery
It’s always best to design your website based on your wedding save the date or invitation set. It’s a great way to have your guests be familiar with your wedding theme.
