The discussion about whether HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery will render Flash obsolete is well documented and on-going.
Today we are bringing you a collection of sites built with open source mark-up that include elements that could at one time only be achieved with Flash. One of the biggest advantages of using HTML5 and/or jQuery is faster loading times.
Some of the listed sites have animation, some have mouse-over effects, but none use Flash on the page we have linked to.

Conclusion
Certainly for the foreseeable future, mark-up cannot compete with Flash as a gaming platform, but for website design it is seriously throwing down a challenge.
